Air Max Day is less than 24 hours away. Celebrating it’s third year, Nike wanted to make this year’s Air Max Day a full weekend! An event to honor one of their greatness technological advancements, Nike finally threw their hat into the Convention ring. Choosing three host cities, New York, Tokyo, and Hong Kong, Air Max Con is here to celebrate and educate us all on everything Air Max. We had the pleasure of taking a trip to the Big Apple for Day 1 of Air Max Con NY, and now is your chance to get the full experience!
The day started out like any other convention, waiting in line. People were excited to see what Nike had in-store for their first ever Air Max Con. The wait wasn’t too bad, about an hour, and in that time we had the opportunity to see people stunt in their Air Max of choice:
When the line started moving and the doors opened, we were greeted with a festival of neon lights and important dates to Air Max releases heading into the convention.
Once we were in the building, we had to wait in, you guessed it, another line!
But at least in this line you got to look at this dope art piece made out of Nike shoe boxes.
The vibe inside was buzzing with excitement since no one really knew what to expect! They had Air Maxes for sale including the Safari Atmos retro and Tinker Air Max Zeros among other Air Max classics. A customize station where you could buy a t-shirt or a pair of sneakers and take home a little piece of the memorable event.
The custom station lead into the giveaway section of Air Max Con where we were able to get some exclusive posters, Air Max inspired KITH Treats, a Nail Salon with this year’s City Pack prints, Jason Markk shoe cleaning station, and a Madbury Club station to round it off.
After geekin’ out on free merch and a belly full of cereal, it was time to head to the most important part of Air Max Con: Nike’s Vote Back. A way to retro any Air Max silhouette with a simple click of a button and, in turn, you received an enamel pin to show off you voted!
As of writing this blog, the Air Max 1 Atmos Elephant is in first place and the poll closes tonight, so if you want to vote for your favorite pair, head over to Nike: https://web.nike.com/airmaxvoteback/index.html
The last part of Air Max Con was the H-T-M area showcasing the newest models from famous designers Hiroshi Fujiwara, Tinker Hatfield, and Mark Parker. This was a futuristic addition of the convention with inflatable furniture and an innovative selfie/ dancing tube.
All-in-all, Air Max Con NY Day 1 was a big success. If your a fan of one Air Max model or all of them, this was the place to be. This event was very informative for sneakerheads and casual fans a-like. We anticipate today and tomorrow to be even bigger, but they are both entirely booked. So if you missed out on a chance to see Air Max Con in-person, this will be your best bet to get the full experience!
